Shoreham, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's golf team is currently in fourth place out of 13 teams after the first round of the Division II Dowling College Memorial Tournament at Tallgrass Golf Club. The Rams posted a day one total of 298 and trail the round one leader Chestnut Hill College by five strokes.
Senior Rocco Costa (Massapequa, N.Y.) fired a career-best round of 71 and is currently tied for third place individually. Senior Matt Pollock (Northport, N.Y.) is tied for sixth after an opening round of 72 capped off with a birdie three on the 18th hole. Junior Scott Sessions (Pleasantville, N.Y.) carded a 77, while junior Chris Brosi (Stony Brook, N.Y.) pitched in with a 78 for the Rams.
Chestnut Hill's Sam Riemer is the leader after posting a 69 and teammate Matthew Balcer (70) is one shot back.
Hamilton College is currently in second place after a day one total of 295 and Le Moyne (296) is in third.
Farmingdale State will begin play in tomorrow's final round at 11:39 a.m.
