Kelly Leads Farmingdale State at NCAA's; Rams Tied for 17th

East Course: Par 72 - 7,210 Yards


Greensboro, N.C. - The Farmingdale State men's golf team posted an opening round score of 298 (+10) on Grandover Resort's West Course at the 2014 NCAA Division III Championships. The Rams are tied for 17th place out of the 41 teams in the field.

Senior Rich Kelly (Oceanside, N.Y.) shot a career-best two-under par 70 and is currently tied for fifth place individually. Freshman Andrew Goldman (Hauppauge, N.Y.) posted a 75, while sophomore Scott Sessions (Pleasantville, N.Y.) carded a four-over par 76. Senior Adam Larkin (Bellmore, N.Y.) shot a 77 for Farmingdale State.

Schreiner University (-3, 285) leads the championship by one stroke over Methodist.

Individually, Brian Burt of Hampden-Sydney College fired an opening round of 67 (-5) and has a one shot lead over Texas Tyler's Buddy Hallman.

After tomorrow's second round the field will be cut to 15 teams and the top five individuals from the other 26 schools.
