Sayville, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's golf team posted an opening round team-total of 298 and hold an 11-stroke lead over Division II Dowling College after the first round of the Long Island Intercollegiate Championship hosted by St. Joseph's College at Island Hills Country Club.

Freshman Andrew Goldman (Hauppauge, N.Y.) fired an even par round of 71 for the Rams and is tied for first place individually with Dowling's Kurt Brey. Senior Rich Kelly (Oceanside, N.Y.) and sophomore Scott Sessions (Pleasantville, N.Y.) each shot 75 and are currently T3. Senior Adam Larkin (Bellmore, N.Y.) carded a 6-over par 77, while junior Matt Pollock (Northport, N.Y.) posted a 78.

Host school St. Joseph's is in third place after a team-total of 320.

The leaders will tee off in the first group of tomorrow's final round beginning at 8:30 a.m.
