Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's golf team shot a school-record 289 in the first round of the Skyline Conference Championship at the Bethpage State Park - Red Course and lead St. Joseph's College by 37 strokes.

Senior Adam Larkin (Bellmore, N.Y.) and sophomore Scott Sessions (Pleasantville, N.Y.) are tied for first place after posting 1-over par 71's for the Rams. Sophomore Chris Brosi (Stony Brook, N.Y.), who is in third place, eagled the 16th hole and had a birdie on 18 for an opening round of 73. Senior Rich Kelly (Oceanside, N.Y.) is in fourth place after carding a 4-over 74, while junior Matt Pollock (Northport, N.Y.) recorded a first round 77.

The Sage Colleges (327) are in third place and both Mount Saint Mary and Purchase are tied for fourth with team-totals of 329.

The Rams begin play in tomorrow's final round at 9:40 a.m. The winning team receives the Skyline Conference's automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Division III Championships held at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C. on May 13-16.
