New York, N.Y. - Farmingdale State has been selected to win its fifth consecutive Skyline golf championship in voting conducted by the league’s seven head coaches.

The Rams earned six first-place votes and amassed 36 points, while 2011 runner-up The Sage Colleges received one first-place vote and 31 overall. St. Joseph’s-L.I. placed third with 25 points, followed by Purchase (21), NYU-Poly (13) and Old Westbury (13) and Yeshiva (8).

Farmingdale State returns juniors Rich Kelly (Oceanside, N.Y.) and Adam Larkin (Bellmore, N.Y.), who finished second and fourth, respectively, at the 2011 Skyline Championship. Larkin won four events last spring and was the Rams’ top finisher at the 2012 NCAA Championship. Joining Farmingdale State this season is Nassau Community College transfer Cory Huberty (Plainview, N.Y.). Freshmen Scott Sessions (Pleasantville, N.Y.), who captured the sectional championship and Chris Brosi (Stony Brook, N.Y.), a graduate of Ward Melville High School, highlight a strong 2012 recruiting class for the Rams.

The 2012 Skyline Golf Championship will be held Oct. 21-22 at the Bethpage State Park Red Course in Farmingdale, N.Y.
