Men's Golf Spring Season Recap


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The men's golf team won their fourth consecutive Skyline Conference Championship this fall and earned the conference's automatic-bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships held at Mission Inn in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida on May 15-18.

At the NCAA Championship, the Rams missed the cut finishing in 28th place out of 41 teams after shooting a two day total of 631 (323-308). Sophomore Adam Larkin (Bellmore, N.Y.) led Farmingdale State with rounds of 78 and 76, while sophomore John Michael Haining (Hauppauge, N.Y.) posted a two day total of 155 (77-78). Sophomore Rich Kelly (Oceanside, N.Y.) and freshman Matt Pollock (Northport, N.Y.) each carded a day two score of 77.

In the first match of the spring, Larkin tied the school record with a 3-under par 69 at Orange County National’s Crooked Cat Course in a dual match vs. St. Joe’s.

The Rams were the runner-up at both the Cyclone Invitational and the Farmingdale State Invitational. Larkin was the individual champion in both tournaments shooting a 72 to capture the Cyclone Invitational and rounds of 71 and 72 to win the Farmingdale State Invitational.

Larkin won four of the nine tournaments he played in this spring.

The Rams will be graduating four seniors this year.
