2010-11 Men's Golf Season Recap
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The men's golf team captured their
third consecutive Skyline Conference title this season with a 30
stroke victory over second place St. Joseph's College. The Rams
earned the Conference's automatic bid to the 2011 NCAA Division III
Men's Golf Championship at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro,
N.C.
The Rams finished in 31st place at the NCAA's with a two-day team total of 625. Freshman Rich Kelly shot a team-low 74 on day one, highlighted by a hole-in-one on the 15th hole of the West Course. Junior Chris Arnold carded a round one score of 76. Freshman Adam Larkin shot an opening round of 75 and matched Kelly on day two with a hole-in-one on the par three 12th hole of the East Course.
At the Skyline Championship, the Rams posted a two-day total of 697, which is the best in Farmingdale State history. The Rams had all five players in the top-8, led by Larkin, who was the tournament winner and Skyline Conference Player of the Year. Kelly was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year after his third place finish in the Championship. Larkin earned medalist honors in his first collegiate match at the Skidmore Invitational with a victory on the second playoff hole. Arnold finished in a tie for third place with rounds of 75 and 71.
In the spring, the Rams finished in second place at the Farmingdale Invitational and the Long Island Intercollegiate Championship. Farmingdale earned the Skyline Conference Team Sportsmanship Award this year.
