Rams Miss Cut; Finish in 31st Place at NCAA's
- Larkin records Farmingdale's second hole in one -
Greensboro, N.C. - The Farmingdale State men's golf team
missed the cut at the NCAA Division III National Championships
after shooting a second day team total of 319 on the East Course at
the Grandover Resort. The Rams posted a two-day total of 625 and
missed the cut by 25 strokes.
Freshman Adam Larkin (Bellmore, N.Y.) recorded Farmingdale State's second hole in one at the Championship as he carded a one on the 125 yard par 3 12th hole. Larkin hit a pitching wedge 15 feet behind the pin and spun it back into the hole for his ace. Freshman Rich Kelly (Oceanside, N.Y.) made the first hole in one in over 10 years at the NCAA's yesterday on the 15th hole of the West Course.
Larkin led the Rams with a second round 77 as he finished with a two-day total of 152. Kelly, after shooting 74 yesterday, posted an 80 on day two. Junior Chris Arnold (Hauppauge, N.Y.) also shot 80 today and finished the Championship with a two-day total of 156.
St. John's (Minn.) (286-291-577) holds a three stroke lead over Greensboro heading into tomorrow's third round. Centre College's Chris Morris (-12) shot a tournament low 65 today and leads defending National Champion Tain Lee (-8) by four shots.
