
Rams Hold 10 Shot Lead after First Round of Skyline Championship
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men’s golf team shot a 299 in the opening round of the Skyline Conference Championship this afternoon at Bethpage State Park - Red Course. The Rams hold a 10 stroke lead heading into tomorrow’s final round over second place St. Joseph’s College.
Junior Chris Arnold (Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge) and freshman Adam Larkin (Bellmore N.Y./Mepham) are tied for first place individually after shooting rounds of 74 for Farmingdale State. Freshman Rich Kelly (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) posted a 75 and junior Joe Arnold (West Islip, N.Y./Islip) shot a six-over par 76.
St. Joseph’s Matt Ranum and PJ LaPiana each shot a 74 and are in a four way tie for first place individually.
Purchase College is in third place with a team total of 323.
The winner of the Championship receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Championship to be held at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C. May 10-13.
The first tee time for the final round is 9:00 a.m.
