- Maruyama tied for 18th individually after shooting a 74 -

Hershey, Penn. The Farmingdale State men’s golf team is currently in 19th place after the opening round of the NCAA Division III National Championships. The Rams posted a 314 on the more challenging Hershey East course and will play Hershey Links in the second round. The field is cut to 23 teams after tomorrow’s round.

Farmingdale State was led by senior Masa Maruyama (Yamanashi, Japan/Sundai) who shot a team-best three-over par 74. Maruyama made the turn at one under after a tap in birdie on the par four 9th hole. He shot four over on the back nine and currently is in 18th place individually. Sophomore Chris Arnold (Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge) carded a 77 for the Rams.

Farmingdale State tees off at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.
