Bridgehampton, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State golf team took second place at the Long Island Intercollegiate Championship at The Bridge, in Bridgehampton, N.Y. The Rams finished three strokes behind Dowling College, who captured the team championship with a two-day team total of 656 (325-331).

The conditions were better suited for scoring in today's final round as the wind diminished overnight. Senior Matt Livolsi (Stewart Manor, N.Y./Sewanhaka) finished in fourth place individually for Farmingdale State, shooting a final round 78 for a two-day total of 158. Senior Masa Maruyama (Yamanashi, Japan/Sundai), who was in third place after round one, posted an 86 to finish in eighth place. Seniors Larry Hipp (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) and Jim McLaughlin (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) finished in a tie for 12th place with two-day totals of 168.

Nassau's Mike Midgette and Luke Walters of Dowling College each had a two-day total of 154 and went to playoff holes. After pars on the 10th hole, Midgette had a par 5 on 18 as Walters recorded a double bogey, naming Midgette the tournament medalist. Dowling's Anthony Corzi took third place with rounds of 75 and 81, while St. Joseph's Matt Dennis, who shot a final round best 74, finished in fifth place.

Farmingdale State next travels to Hershey Country Club in Hershey, Penn. on May 11-14 for the Division III National Championship.
