Garden City, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's golf team finished in second place at the Tom Pecora Invitational at Cherry Valley Golf Club in Garden City, N.Y. The players had to contend with heavy rains throughout the entire second round.

The Rams shot 304 on the opening 18 holes and held a one shot lead over host school Adelphi University, heading into the afternoon round. Farmingdale State posted 317 on the second 18 and finished in second place (622), five shots behind Division II Felician College. Adelphi University finished in third place with a team total of 625.

Senior Masanao Maruyama (Yamanashi, Japan/Sundai) shot a one over par 73 in his opening round and was two shots behind Adelphi's Matt Demeo (Bohemia, N.Y./Connetquot). Maruyama posted a 77 on the second 18 and finished in third place with a total of 150. Senior Andrew Schwartz (Commack, N.Y./Commack) shot impressive rounds of 74 and 79, while senior Larry Hipp (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) fired a 76 on the opening 18 holes. Senior Matt Livolsi (Stewart Manor, N.Y./Sewanhaka) shot rounds of 81 and 77 for the Rams.

Farmingdale State will travel to The Bridge in Bridgehampton, N.Y. for the Long Island Intercollegiate Championship on Thursday, April 29th and Friday, April 30th.
