Rams Win Farmingdale State Golf Invitational

- Maruyama medalist after rounds of 73 and 75 -

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's golf team won the Farmingdale Invitational this afternoon at Bethpage State Park - Red Course, defeating second place Nassau Community College by 14 strokes. 

Senior Masa Maruyama (Yamanashi, Japan/Sundai) entered the final round tied for the lead after shooting a 73 on day one. Maruyama made the turn at 36 today and posted a 39 on the back nine for a 75. He was the tournament medalist with a two-day total of 148. St. Joseph's Chris Manzello entered the day tied for the lead with Maruyama, but shot a 77 to earn runner-up honors.

Senior Jim McLaughlin (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) shot rounds of 76 and 79, to take third place individually for Farmingdale State. Senior Andrew Schwartz (Commack, N.Y./Commack) rebounded with a six-over par 76 in the final round.

St. Joseph's Matt Ranum (75-81) and Nassau's Rob DeLeo (77-80) finished in fourth and fifth place respectively.

Farmingdale State finished with a two-day team total of 630. Nassau Community College posted 644 and St. Joseph's took third place with 645.

The Rams travel to St. George's Country Club for the Suffolk Community College Invitational on Monday, April 19th.
