Maruyama Leads Rams to Season Opening Victory

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Senior Masanao Maruyama (Yamanashi, Japan/Sundai) shot an even par 70 this afternoon, leading Farmingdale State to victory over St. Joseph's in a dual match at Bethpage State Park - Red Course. The Rams posted a team total of 297, defeating the Golden Eagles by 27 strokes.

Maruyama was two over par through four holes before birdies on five and eight brought him back to level par. Masa pared every hole on the back nine for his round of 70. Senior Andrew Schwartz (Commack, N.Y./Commack) posted a 74 (36-38), while senior Matt Livolsi (Stewart Manor, N.Y./Sewanhaka) finished with a 76 for Farmingdale State.

Chris Manzello shot a school record two-over par 72 for St. Joseph's. Matt Ranum carded a 73 despite a triple bogey on the first hole for the Golden Eagles.

The Rams travel to High Bridge Hills for the Centenary Invitational on Friday, April 9th.
