Maruyama Named Third Team All-American


Farmingdale, N.Y. - Junior Masanao Maruyama (Yamanashi, Japan/Sundai) was named to the Ping Division III All-America Team, voted on by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

In the fall, Maruyama was the medalist at the Yeshiva Invitational, defeating the field of 37 players. He placed second at the Skyline Conferece Championship at Bethpage State Park - Red Course. His scores of 77 and 71 secured the victory and Farmingdale's second trip to the NCAA's in three years.

In the spring season, Maruyama placed third at the Skidmore Invitational. He was the first round leader, his 76 in the wind and 35 degree temperatures led the field of 76. This past week, Maruyama finished in a tie for 22nd at the Divison III National Championship at the PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, FL. He posted rounds of 70, 78, 77 and 72, earning a tie for 22nd place overall. Maruyama is the first golfer in Farmingdale State College history to earn All-American honors.
