
Farmingdale Runner-Up at Long Island Intercollegiate
Bridgehampton, N.Y. - Junior Masanao Maruyama
(Yamanashi, Japan/Sundai) led the Rams to a second place finish at
the Long Island Intercollegiate Championship at The Bridge, in
Bridgehampton, N.Y. After shooting an 87 on day one, Maruyama
posted an even par 72 in the final round, finishing in fifth place
individually. Junior Matt Livolsi (Stewart Manor, N.Y./Sewanhaka)
was six shots off the lead after a first round 81 and posted
another 81 in the final round to finish in a tie for 7th place.
Sophomore Chris Arnold (Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge) finished in 12th
place for Farmingdale State with rounds of 82 and 85.
Adelphi University, the number one ranked Division II team in the
Northeast, took the team championship with a two-day total of 627.
They shot a day two best 311 to finish 26 strokes ahead of
runner-up Farmingdale State. Adelphi was led by sophomore Matt
Demeo (Bohemia, N.Y./Connetquot) who shot a tournament best
two-under par 70 in the final round. Demeo was the L.I
Intercollegiate medalist, followed by Nassau CC's Billy Davis
(76-75). Adelphi's Brant Kummerfeld (Thermopolis, WY/Hot Springs
County) finished in 3rd place individually with rounds of 77 and
75, while Dowling College's Jack Schweitzer (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings
Park) took 4th place with a two-day total of 158. Dowling finished
in third place, one stroke behind Farmingdale and Nassau CC placed
4th.
The Rams will play in the Nassau Community College Invitational at
Eisenhower Park - Red Course on May 4th.
