BETHPAGE, N.Y. � Junior Kyle Havas (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) recorded a two-round total of 154 to lead Farmingdale State University to the 2006-07 Skyline Conference Golf Championship held Sunday and Monday at Bethpage State Park.
Havas, who shot rounds of 78 and 76 on the par-70 Red Course, is the second Farmingdale State player to earn medalist honors in as many years. Tom Koprowski won the individual as a senior last year. Manhattanville sophomore Jason Zubatkin shot an opening round 77 to take a one-shot lead over Havas into Monday's round. The two remained close throughout the round until Havas pulled away in the closing holes.
As a team, Farmingdale State placed four players in the top 10 in earning its first Skyline Conference golf title and second conference championship overall. The Rams, who shot a team score of 642, finished 20 strokes ahead of second-place Manhattanville in earning the conference's first-ever automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. The NCAA Tournament will be held May 15-18, 2007 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Farmingdale State led from start to finish. The Rams (324) held an eight-stroke lead over Manhattanville (332) after the first round. Farmingdale (318) was 12 strokes better than Manhattanville (330) on Monday.
Joining Havas in the top ten were sophomore Tim Pellegrino (Wantagh, N.Y.), senior Ryan Williams (Woodbury, N.Y.) and sophomore Alec Salvitti (Medford, N.Y.). Pellegrino had a 159, Williams shot a 161 and Salvitti carded in at 168.
The top ten golfers earned All-Skyline Conference honors. The All-Skyline first team consisted of Havas, Zubatkin, Pellegrino, Tom Merriam (Moorestown, N.J.) of Stevens and Williams. The All-Skyline second team consisted of Chris Manzello (Holbrook, N.Y.) of St. Joseph's, B.J. Greaves (Nipigon, Ontario) of Manhattanville, Mike Keaveney (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) of St. Joseph's, Javier Vargas (San Juan Puerto Rico) of Manhattanville, Josh Laskey of Yeshiva and Salvitti.
