Four Rams Earn All-Conference for Baseball

NEW YORK | The Skyline Conference's 11 head baseball coaches have voted on this season's All-Conference team and four student-athletes were recognized for Farmingdale State.

Senior right fielder Bobby Pollock (Manorville, N.Y.) and senior pitcher Johnny Dougherty (Kings Park, N.Y.) each earned a spot on the First Team, while junior designated hitter Daniel Deutsch (Northport, N.Y.) and sophomore second baseman Chris McGuggart (Bethpage, N.Y.) were named Second Team All-Conference.

Pollock was the National Division III leader for slugging percentage with a 1.011, he ranked ninth in the NCAA for triples (7), and was 40th for home runs (12). He led the Skyline in Slugging % and OBP+SLG (1.511), ranked second for both home runs and triples, was fifth in batting average (.400), sixth for on-base percentage (.500) and 12th for walks (20). He set single-season school records for slugging %, (320 points higher than the previous record-holder .691 - Frank Yera (2009)), 12 home runs (previous record was 5 - Vincent Rice (2019) & Michael Labrozzi (2009)) and total bases with 96 (86 - Vincent Rice (2019)). Pollock is also the career home run leader in program history with 17, Labrozzi had previously held the record of nine since 2009, and the single-game home run leader, with three against John Jay on March 23rd. This season, 27 of Pollock's 38 hits went for extra bases.

Dougherty appeared in 11 games, with seven starts and ranked second in the Skyline for ERA (2.66), third for strikeouts looking (16), fifth for wins (5) and least hits allowed (41), seventh for opposing batting average (.256) and 10th for total strikeouts (44). He led the team in innings pitched (40.2), ERA, strikeouts, K/9 (9.74) and complete games (2). Dougherty also ranked 22nd in the NCAA for strikeout-to-walk ratio (6.29) and was 85th in ERA.

Deutsch ranked sixth in the Skyline Conference with a .400 batting average in 100 at-bats. He ranked second on the team in on-base percentage (.474), hits (40) and doubles (8), was third for walks (10) and fifth for runs scored (22) and RBI's (15).

McGuggart ranked fourth in the Skyline in batting average (.402), striking out just seven times in 121 plate appearances. He led the team with 45 hits, was second for home runs (5) and fourth in both runs (23) and runs batted in (18).
