THROGGS NECK, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College baseball team dropped a pair of games at Skyline Conference opponent Maritime College on Saturday evening. The Privateers earned an extra-innings, walk-off win, 7-6, in the first game before picking up a 10-3 decision in game two. FSC wraps up their regular season schedule with a home Skyline doubleheader against Purchase College on Sunday on Senior Day.
The Rams (16-17, 8-10 Skyline) trailed 2-0 heading into the sixth inning of game one but scored three runs to take the lead. Sophomore second baseman Chris McGuggart (Bethpage, N.Y.) hit a solo home run, before senior third baseman Nolan White (Miller Place, N.Y.) tallied a two-out, two-run single to go in front, 3-2.
Farmingdale State extended their lead to 6-2 in the seventh on a McGuggart RBI single, followed by a two-run home run by senior right fielder Bobby Pollock (Manorville, N.Y.).
Maritime (25-13, 12-6 Skyline) trailed 6-3 with two out in the bottom of the seventh and used a bases-clearing double by designated hitter Michael Frazzetta to knot the score at 6-6.
The game remained 6-6 into the bottom of the ninth when the Privateers loaded the bases with one out. After a strikeout, Maritime's Anthony Madigan was hit by a pitch to bring in the winning run.
Pollock went 3-for-3 with a walk, double, home run, two RBI's and two runs scored, while McGuggart had two hits, including a home run, two RBI's and two runs. White recorded two hits and two runs batted in and sophomore shortstop Patrick Dallas (Patchogue, N.Y.) had two hits and a double.
Farmingdale State was held to just five hits and three runs in the second game as the Privateers earned the 10-3 victory. Deutch registered a two-run home run in the second inning to give FSC a 2-1 advantage, but the Rams were outscored 9-1 through the final five innings.
Pollock continued his perfect day at the plate with a triple, two walks and a run scored. McGuggart tallied two more hits in the second game with one run scored.
The Rams are back in action tomorrow, Sunday, May 7th at 1:00 p.m. when they host Purchase College on Senior Day.
