FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State baseball team split a Skyline Conference doubleheader against St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Monday afternoon as they fell 8-6 in game one but bounced back with a 11-1 run-rule victory in the second game. FSC now sits at 16-13 overall and 8-6 in Skyline play.

In the first inning of game one, senior right fielder Bobby Pollock (Manorville, N.Y.) hit a solo home run, his ninth of the season, to put the Rams ahead 1-0.

FSC extended the lead to 2-0 in the second after junior left fielder Daniel Molina (East Meadow, N.Y.) singled, stole second base and scored on a single by freshman center fielder Ryan Wasserman (New Hyde Park, N.Y.).

The Bears (11-18, 6-8 Skyline) evened the score in the top of the third, scoring a pair of unearned runs on a two-run double by third baseman Chris Leary.

In the bottom half of the third, junior designated hitter Daniel Deutsch (Northport, N.Y.) led off with a four-pitch walk and moved to second on a ground out. Two batters later, Molina singled up the middle to drive in Deutsch and give Farmingdale State a 3-2 advantage.

St. Joseph's-Brooklyn quickly responded with four runs in the fourth to jump in front 6-3. The Bears loaded the bases with three straight singles then used a two-run double from right fielder Carmine Carbone, an RBI ground out by Doug Paider and an RBI single by Matt Arcati.

The Rams cut their deficit to just one at 6-5 with back-to-back home runs by sophomore second baseman Chris McGuggart (Bethpage, N.Y.) and Pollock in the bottom of the fourth.

The game remained 6-5 until the bottom of the sixth when a dropped fly ball with two outs allowed Deutsch to score and tie the game at 6-6.

St. Joseph's-Brooklyn captured the lead in the top of the seventh as two singles and a two-run triple by pinch-hitter Michael Gardener put them in front, 8-6.

Bears' Justin Conaty (Sv, 2) tossed a 1-2-3 bottom of the seventh to clinch the win and pick up the save.

Pollock finished 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs, two runs scored and two RBI's, while McGuggart had two hits, including a home run, and one run batted in. Deutsch had a perfect game at the plate going 2-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored. Molina tallied a pair of hits, while Wasserman and sophomore shortstop Patrick Dallas (Patchogue, N.Y.) registered one hit apiece.

Senior pitcher Stephen Clancy (Mineola, N.Y.) struck out seven batters but took the complete game loss.

The Rams took a 3-0 lead in the second inning of game two as Wasserman hit a triple to score senior catcher Brad Sakellarides (East Moriches, N.Y.) and freshman third baseman Justin Rindner (East Meadow, N.Y.) before scoring on a ground out in the next at-bat.

FSC added two runs in the third, on a Rindner RBI single and Wasserman sacrifice fly, and three in the fourth, on an RBI ground out by junior first baseman Jordan Lambert (Plainview, N.Y.) and a two-run home run by senior third baseman Nolan White (Miller Place, N.Y.), to take a commanding 8-0 victory.

Each team added a run in the sixth before the Rams added the final two runs in the seventh on a Lambert RBI triple and wild pitch.

Senior Johnny Dougherty (Kings Park, N.Y.) (W, 4-2, 6.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 6 K) earned the win as he tossed six innings with six strikeouts and just one earned run.
