Game 2: Mount Saint Mary - 12, Farmingdale State - 6

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State baseball team hosted Skyline Conference opponent Mount Saint Mary College on Sunday for a doubleheader and earned a split. FSC took the first game by an 8-2 score but dropped game two 12-6. Rams' Head Coach Keith Osik picked up his 400th career win with the game one victory. Farmingdale State now stand at 12-11 overall and 4-5 in the Skyline.

FSC opened the scoring in the second inning of game one. Junior designated hitter Daniel Deutsch (Northport, N.Y.) led off with a single up the middle and moved to second on a wild pitch. Junior left fielder Daniel Molina (East Meadow, N.Y.) then put down a sacrifice bunt to get Deutsch to third and senior catcher Louis Annunziata (Howard Beach, N.Y.) followed with a sacrifice fly to put Farmingdale State in front, 1-0.

The Rams pushed across their second run in the third inning as sophomore shortstop Patrick Dallas (Patchogue, N.Y.) hit a single, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by freshman center fielder Ryan Wasserman (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) and scored on an RBI single by senior right fielder Bobby Pollock (Manorville, N.Y.).

The Knights (7-20, 3-7 Skyline) threatened with the bases loaded and one out in the top of the fourth but Farmingdale State freshman pitcher TJ Cox (Mineola, N.Y.) forced a ground out and a strikeout to escape the jam.

In the bottom of the fourth, FSC used RBI singles from Annunziata and Wasserman, an RBI ground-rule double by senior third baseman Nolan White (Miller Place, N.Y.) and a sacrifice bunt by Dallas to go up 6-0.

Mount Saint Mary cut their deficit to four with a pair of runs in the fifth, but were held off the board the rest of the way. The Rams final two runs of the game came on a two-run double from Pollock in the sixth to account for the 8-2 final score.

Cox (W, 1-2) earned the win on the mound after throwing four innings and giving up one run. Freshman Michael Camardi (Syosset, N.Y.) (Sv, 2) picked up the save after throwing three innings in relief without giving up an earned run.

Pollock finished 2-for-3 with a walk and three RBI's, while Wasserman had two hits, one RBI, one run scored and a stolen base. Sophomore second baseman Chris McGuggart (Bethpage, N.Y.) finished 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored and Deutsch recorded a single, walk and two runs scored. Annunziata registered a hit, two RBI's and a run scored and both White and Dallas tallied a hit, RBI and run scored apiece.

All nine starters for FSC had at least one hit in the victory.

In the first inning of game two, Pollock launched a home run over the right field fence to give FSC an early 1-0 lead. He continues to add to his historic season with his eighth homer of the season. The previous record was five for a single season in school history.

MSMC loaded the bases in the top of the third inning, but junior pitcher Jordan Lambert (Plainview, N.Y.) forced an inning-ending 4-6-3 double play to keep the Knights scoreless.

Farmingdale State extended their lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the third on an RBI ground out by Lambert to score Deutsch.

The Knights trailed 2-1 and scored four runs on four hits, including RBI hits by Anthony Franco and Devin Tait, in the fifth to go in front, 5-2.

Mount Saint Mary extended their lead with three runs in the top of the sixth, but FSC got two back in the bottom half of the inning as Annunziata and Dallas recorded RBI doubles.

Leading 8-2, MSMC's Jack Goodwin hit a bases-clearing triple to go ahead 11-4.

The Knights added a run in the top of the ninth as they went on for the 12-6 victory.

Annunziata finished with three hits, including a double, an RBI, and one run scored. White also ended with three hits, a double, and two runs scored, while both Pollock and Deutsch had two hits, a double and one run scored. Dallas recorded a double and two runs batted in.

The Rams are back in action on Friday, April 21st when they resume a 1-1 game against Mount Saint Vincent at 3:00 p.m. before playing a pair of doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday.
