PATCHOGUE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State baseball team headed on the road Friday afternoon for a Skyline Conference doubleheader at St. Joseph's-Long Island and earned a split. Senior pitcher Johnny Dougherty (Kings Park, N.Y.) fired a complete game shutout in a 6-0 game one win, but the Rams fell in the second game by a score of 7-4.

FSC (8-8, 1-2 Skyline) got on the board early in game one, scoring three runs in the second and two runs in the third to take a 5-0 advantage.

Junior first baseman Jordan Lambert (Plainview, N.Y.) led off the second inning with a single before scoring on an RBI double by junior designated hitter Daniel Deutsch (Northport, N.Y.) two batters later. With two outs, senior third baseman Nolan White (Miller Place, N.Y.) and sophomore second baseman Patrick Dallas (Patchogue, N.Y.) tallied back-to-back RBI doubles to give the Rams a 3-0 lead.

In the third inning, sophomore shortstop Chris McGuggart (Bethpage, N.Y.) hit a single up the middle before Lambert walked. Senior catcher Louis Annunziata (Howard Beach, N.Y.) then doubled to score McGuggart and Deutsch registered a sacrifice fly to bring home Lambert and put FSC ahead, 5-0.

Farmingdale State extended their lead in the fourth as a White single and Dallas double put runners on second and third with none out. Freshman center fielder Ryan Wasserman (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) then singled to right field to drive in White and take a six-run advantage.

Dougherty (W, 2-1) tossed the complete game shutout allowing just four hits and striking out 11 batters in the seven-inning contest. The 11 strikeouts is tied for seventh all-time in a single game in program history.

The Golden Eagles (11-3, 3-1 Skyline) answered in the bottom of the inning with a sacrifice fly to knot the game at 1-1.

FSC took the lead in the third on an RBI by Lambert, but SJLI plated two in the bottom half to take a 3-2 advantage.

St. Joe's extended their lead with two more in the fourth and one in the fifth to go in front, 6-2.

Farmingdale State used a White double in the sixth and a Lambert single in the seventh to cut their deficit to 6-4.

SJLI's Dante Morabito (Sv, 1) threw two perfect innings to close out the game as the Golden Eagles went on for the 7-4 decision.

McGuggart registered three hits, a stolen base and one run scored, while Lambert had two hits and two runs batted in. Wasserman produced two hits and two runs scored and both White and Deutsch finished with one hit and one RBI in the loss.
