Five Rams Hit Home Runs as FSC Sweeps Lehman

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State baseball team swept Lehman College in a 7-inning doubleheader on Wednesday evening. The Rams took game one by a score of 14-0 before earning an 18-5 win in game two.

With the first game scoreless in the bottom of the third, sophomore second baseman Patrick Dallas (Patchogue, N.Y.) led off with a solo home run over the left field fence. After freshman center fielder Ryan Wasserman (Miller Place, N.Y.) drew a walk, sophomore shortstop Chris McGuggart (Bethpage, N.Y.) hit a home run to left field to put the Rams ahead, 3-0.

The Rams added nine runs in the fourth inning to take a commanding 12-0 advantage. Dallas recorded a sacrifice fly to score senior catcher Louis Annunziata (Howard Beach, N.Y.) before junior left fielder Daniel Molina (East Meadow, N.Y.) hit a two-run triple two batters later. McGuggart followed with an RBI fielder's choice, while senior right fielder Bobby Pollock (Manorville, N.Y.) hit an RBI triple and junior first baseman Jordan Lambert (Plainview, N.Y.) hit an RBI double. Later in the inning, junior designated hitter Daniel Deutsch (Northport, N.Y.) tallied an RBI single and senior third baseman Nolan White (Miller Place, N.Y.) hit a two-run home run as Farmingdale State took a 12-0 lead.

The Rams added two more runs in the fifth as they went on for the 14-0 victory.

McGuggart finished with two hits, a home run, two runs scored and three runs batted in and White registered two hits, a home run, two runs and two RBI's. Lambert went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, Wasserman was 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored, and both Molina and Dallas recorded an extra base hit and two runs batted in.

Freshman TJ Cox (Mineola, N.Y.) (3.1 IP, 1 H, 2 SO), freshman Derek Watts (Baldwin, N.Y.) (W, 2-0, 1.2 IP), and sophomore Will Stewart (Hicksville, N.Y.) (2.0 IP, 1 H, 3 SO) only allowed two baserunners in the shutout win.

Farmingdale State captured game two by a score of 18-5, highlighted by a 12-run second inning. 

Senior Brad Sakellarides (East Moriches, N.Y.) led the way offensively going 2-for-2 with a home run, two runs scored and four runs batted in. Sophomore Justin DiMartino (Bethpage, N.Y.) tallied an inside-the-park home run and three runs batted in, while White had two hits, including a triple, two runs and two RBI's. Lambert registered three hits and scored twice and both Wasserman and Dallas finished with two hits apiece.

Freshman Ben Ellenport (Massapequa, N.Y.) (W, 1-0, 1.1 IP) picked up the first win of his career on the mound, while freshman Trevor Diamond (Miller Place, N.Y.) (0.2 IP), senior Kevin Primm (Massapequa, N.Y.) (0.2 IP, 2 SO), and freshman Dustin Noto (Port Washington, N.Y.) (0.1 IP) closed out the game.

The Rams next return to conference action when they travel to St. Joseph's-Long Island for a doubleheader on Friday, March 31st at 1:00 p.m.
