Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team opened their Skyline Conference schedule this afternoon with a doubleheader against Maritime and fell in both games. The Rams dropped game one by a score of 2-1, before falling in the second game, 14-3.

In the first game, the Privateers (10-4, 2-0 Skyline) loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the third, but FSC (5-8, 0-2 Skyline) junior pitcher Stephen Clancy (Mineola, N.Y.) struck out the next batter looking to end the threat.

With one out in the bottom of the inning, sophomore right fielder Bobby Pollock (Manorville, N.Y.) hit a single and moved to second on a ground out. Freshman first baseman Jordan Lambert (Plainview, N.Y.) batted next and hit an RBI single to center to bring home Pollock and put the Rams ahead, 1-0.

The game remained 1-0 until the top of the fifth inning. With two outs and runners on second and third, Maritime sophomore third baseman Freddy Forgione (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) tallied an RBI single to knot the game at 1-1. In the next at-bat, designated hitter Austen Bishop (Millersville, Md.) reached on an error as senior center fielder Travis Zurita (Ozone Park, N.Y.) came in to score.

The Rams put a runner on in the bottom of the fifth, but it was quickly wiped out on a double play.

Privateers senior pitcher Shane Sullivan (Stewart Manor, N.Y.) did not allow a hit over the final two innings as he picked up the complete game win, 2-1.

FSC senior center fielder Vincent Napolitano (Bellmore, N.Y.) had two hits and a stolen base, while Pollock finished with a hit, a walk and a run scored.

In top of the first inning of game two, Forgione hit a solo home run to give Maritime a 1-0 advantage.

The Privateers extended their lead to 4-0 in the second inning on a three-run home run by Zurita.

Maritime scored three runs in the fourth and one run in the fifth as they took a commanding 8-0 lead.

Freshman third baseman Patrick Dallas (Patchogue, N.Y.) recorded an RBI ground out to score freshman shortstop Nick Neve (Holbrook, N.Y.) in the bottom of the fifth to cut the Rams deficit to seven.

The Privateers outscored Farmingdale State, 6-2, in the final two innings as they earned the 14-3 run-rule victory.

Freshman first baseman Jonathan Morales (Farmingdale, N.Y.) led the way offensively for the Rams going 1-for-2 with a double, one walk and a run scored.

Zurita recorded two hits, four runs batted in and two runs scored for Maritime in the win.

Privateers senior pitcher Niko Concha (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) improved to 3-0 on the season after tossing six innings and allowing just one earned run.

FSC will next travel to play Mount Saint Vincent in a conference doubleheader tomorrow, Sunday, March 27th at 11:00 a.m. The games will be played at Roberto Clemente Park in Bronx, N.Y.
