Rams Win First Game of DH Against Old Westbury

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team split today's doubleheader with Old Westbury but won the opener which was a conference game, 4-1. Old Westbury earned a 2-1 victory in the non-conference second game.

After FSC (11-8, 10-5) scored an unearned run in the top of the second, freshman left fielder Chris Driscoll (Seaford, N.Y.) followed with an RBI single to increase the lead to 2-0. The final run of the inning came on a Bobby Pollock (Manorville, N.Y.) RBI single up the middle.

The Panthers would score their only run of the game in the bottom of the seventh. Farmingdale State added a run in the ninth en route to the 4-1 win.

Driscoll led the way for the Rams with two hits and an RBI. Senior pitcher Joe Marino (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) recorded the win and improved to 1-1 after allowing one run on five hits with seven strikeouts in 5.1 innings of relief.

In game two, the Panthers (8-3) plated a run in the third and fifth innings to take a 2-0 advantage. FSC's only run of the game came in the top of the sixth as they fell, 2-1.

Freshman catcher Daniel Molina (East Meadow, N.Y.) recorded a team-high two hits in the loss.

The Rams next will host Merchant Marine in a conference doubleheader on Saturday, May 1st at noon.
