Farmingdale State Drops Conference Game to St. Joseph's-Brooklyn

St. Joseph's-Brooklyn - 4, Farmingdale State - 1


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team played host to St. Joseph's-Brooklyn in a single 9-inning game this evening and fell, 4-1.

The Bears (2-12, 1-8 Skyline) opened the scoring in the top of the second inning as three straight singles allowed them to take a 1-0 advantage

St. Joseph's-Brooklyn extended their lead to 3-0 in the third on a two-run double from senior right fielder Kevin Reyes (Bronx, N.Y.).

Still down by three in the bottom of the fifth, FSC (8-3, 8-1 Skyline) got on the board after freshman Philip Gerard (Patchogue, N.Y.) hit a pinch-hit single and quickly scored on an RBI double from freshman shortstop Thomas Secaira (Bay Shore, N.Y.).

Leading 3-1 in the eighth, SJC-BK used a hit-by-pitch, sacrifice bunt and RBI double to go in front, 4-1.

Freshman pitcher Joe Acampora (East Rockaway, N.Y.) (Sv, 1) did not allow a hit over the final two innings as the Bears went on for the 4-1 win.

Freshman second baseman Giancarlo Giacometti (Wantagh, N.Y.) led the way offensively for the Rams with two hits, while sophomore right fielder Bobby Pollock (Manorville, N.Y.) had one hit and a walk.

St. Joe's-Brooklyn freshman center fielder Anthony Hernandez (Selden, N.Y.) had three hits and a walk.

Bears senior pitcher CJ Bunnicelli (Staten Island, N.Y.) (W, 1-2) tossed seven-innings, allowing only one run and six hits, to pick up the victory.

Farmingdale State next will host St. Joseph's-Long Island for a Skyline doubleheader on Saturday, April 17th at noon.
