Rams Pick Up Pair of Wins at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn

Patchogue, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team swept St. Joseph's-Brooklyn in a Skyline Conference doubleheader this afternoon with scores of 11-1 and 12-2. The Rams improved to 8-2 overall and a perfect 8-0 in the conference.

Leading 2-1 in the top of the fourth, FSC extended the advantage to 4-1 on a two-out 2 RBI single up the middle by senior center fielder Vincent Napolitano (Bellmore, N.Y.) which sent Chris Driscoll (Seaford, N.Y.) and Nolan White (Miller Place, N.Y.) around to score. In the next at-bat, freshman first baseman Jordan Lambert (Plainview, N.Y.) doubled down the right field line, scoring two runs and putting the Rams out in front, 6-1.

Napolitano led off the top of the seventh with a home run to left field to increase the Farmingdale State lead to 7-1. FSC added a 2 RBI double by White, a Louis Annunziata (Howard Beach, N.Y.) RBI single through the left side and a Driscoll RBI single to left center to cap off the 11-1 game one victory.

Lambert was 4-for-4 at the plate with four doubles, three runs batted in and one run scored, while Napolitano was 2-for-4 with a home run, 4 RBI and two runs scored. White added two hits, two runs batted in and scored two runs for Farmingdale State.

Junior pitcher Stephen Clancy (Mineola, N.Y.) improved to 3-0 on the season after tossing a complete game allowing one run on eight hits with seven strikeouts.

For the Bears (1-12, 0-8), sophomore shortstop Lucas Collet (Toulouse, France) led the way after going 3-for-3 at the plate.

In game two, FSC trailed 2-0 and used an eight-run seventh inning and a four-run ninth inning to earn the 12-2 win and cap off the sweep of St. Joe's-Brooklyn.

In the top of the seventh, the Rams plated their first run of the game on a White RBI single to left field. After an Aidan Hutchins (Wading River, N.Y.) single, White came around to score on a wild pitch which tied the game at 2-2. Freshman shortstop Thomas Secaira (Bay Shore, N.Y.) followed with an RBI single to right center to score Hutchins and put Farmingdale State on top, 3-2. Napolitano and junior designated hitter Ryan DePalma (Albertson, N.Y.) each added 2 RBI hits to extend the lead to 7-2. DePalma scored the final run of the inning on a wild pitch as FSC went ahead, 8-2.

FSC added four runs on four hits in the ninth inning en route to the 12-2 game two victory.

Hutchins was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with two walks, a double, run scored and run batted in. Freshman second baseman Giancarlo Giacometti (Wantagh, N.Y.) was 2-for-5 with a double, RBI and two runs scored, while Secaira had two hits, including a double to go along with a game-high 3 RBI and one run scored.

Junior Joe Wolf (Levittown, N.Y.) (1-0) picked up his first win of the season after pitching three scoreless innings of relief surrendering only one hit. Senior Joe Marino (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) started the game and received a no decision after allowing two runs on six hits in five innings.

Farmingdale State will host the Bears in a doubleheader to close out the four-game series tomorrow at noon.
