Rams Fall in Non-Conference Game at William Paterson

Wayne, N.J. - The Farmingdale State baseball team fell, 21-0, in a non-conference game at William Paterson on Tuesday. The Rams are now 26-7 on the year, while the Pioneers improved to 21-13 with today's win.

William Paterson scored two runs in the first inning before plating five in the second to go out in front, 7-0. After a four-run third inning gave WP an 11-0 advantage, two runs in the fourth and four in the fifth extended their lead to 17-0. The Pioneers added four runs in the seventh en route to the 21-0 non-conference victory.

Farmingdale State was led by sophomore center fielder Cam Alfano (Yaphank, N.Y.) who was 2-for-2 at the plate with a single and double, while junior first baseman Morgan McCarthy (Oceanside, N.Y.) and junior right fielder Jimmy Mattera (West Islip, N.Y.) each added one hit.

For William Paterson, sophomore center fielder Steven DiGirolamo (Dumont, N.J.) went 4-for-5 with a pair of triples, three runs scored and 4 RBI and junior third baseman Carlos Perez (Hawthorne, N.J.) had three hits, two runs scored and 2 RBI. In the win, Perez and sophomore right fielder Danny Carter (Bloomfield, N.J.) each hit home runs for the Pioneers.

Senior Jeff Lombardi Jr. (Kendall Park, N.J.) earned the win and improved to 2-0 after pitching seven innings allowing three hits and striking out two.

The Rams next host Stevens in a non-conference game tomorrow at 3:30 p.m.
