Greensboro, N.C. - The 2018 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. III All-Region teams and Regional Players of the Year have been announced in all eight regions. The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America Committee.
Farmingdale State senior pitcher David Otero Jr. (Shelton, Conn.) was named Second Team ABCA/Rawlings All-New York Region, while junior pitcher Matthew Constantine (West Babylon, N.Y.) earned Third Team honors.
In 49 innings pitched, Otero Jr. went 4-2 with a 2.39 earned run average and recorded a team-high 47 strikeouts. He held opponents to a .189 batting average against, allowing only 33 total hits this season. In the conference, Otero Jr. finished third in strike outs and seventh in both innings pitched and batting average against. He also ranked 31st in the Nation for hits allowed per nine innings (5.87).
Constantine was 5-1 this season with a 1.68 earned run average. He broke the school record with three complete game shutouts this season and led the team in wins, ranked second in games started (6) and innings pitched (48.1), and third for saves (2). In the Skyline, he finished fifth for wins and earned run average, seventh in saves, and ninth in innings pitched.
