Farmingdale, N.Y. - Ramapo College traveled to Farmingdale State for a non-conference baseball game this afternoon and registered 24 hits in an 18-5 win. The Rams dropped to 10-5 on the season, while the Roadrunners improved to 13-6.

With two outs and runners on first and second in the top of the first inning, senior center fielder Joe Maugeri (Flanders, N.J.) hit a two-run triple to right center to give the Roadrunners an early 2-0 advantage. In their next at-bat, junior third baseman Vincenzo Sita (Bayonne, N.J.) hit a single to center to drive in Maugeri and put Ramapo up 3-0.

The Roadrunners extended their lead to 4-0 in the third inning as senior first baseman Connor Walsh (Waldwick, N.J.) hit a solo homerun to left field.

The Rams threatened with runners on first and second in the bottom of the fifth inning but Ramapo junior pitcher Nick Recarte (Hackensack, N.J.) forced senior second baseman Domenic Palumbo (Old Bethpage, N.Y.) to ground into a double play and end the inning.

After adding a pair of runs in the top of the sixth, Ramapo tacked on one more in the seventh on a fielder's choice groundout by freshman left fielder Anthony Kuzmenko (Green Brook, N.J.) to extend the lead to 7-0.

Farmingdale State loaded the bases with none out in the bottom of the inning and a sacrifice fly by Palumbo to score freshman third baseman Tom DeSena (Centereach, N.Y.) cut the deficit to 7-1. After reloading the bases, an RBI groundout by pinch-hitter Thomas Pallatto (Oceanside, N.Y.), a wild pitch and an RBI single to left by junior right fielder Joseph Roche (Westbury, N.Y.) allowed the Rams to close within three, 7-4.

Ramapo would answer by scoring 10 runs on 10 hits in the top of the eighth inning to open up a commanding 17-4 lead.

Each team scored a run the rest of the way as the Roadrunners captured the non-conference victory, 18-5.

Roche and DeSena each recorded two hits and an RBI in the game, while both Pallatto and freshman shortstop Joey Barbuto (North Babylon, N.Y.) were 1-for-2 off the bench.

Walsh led the way for Ramapo going 2-for-3 with two walks, three RBI's and four runs scored, while Maugeri finished 4-for-5 with five RBI's. Recarte (1-1) earned the win for Ramapo going 6.1 innings and striking out four.

FSC next travels to play Skyline opponent St. Joseph's-Brooklyn in a doubleheader on Friday, March 30th at noon.
