Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team wrapped up their Spring Trip at the RussMatt Invitational down in Florida with an 11-9 defeat of Cobleskill yesterday afternoon. The Rams finished 6-3 on the trip and now stand at 8-3 on the season.

Leading 2-1 in the top of the third inning, sophomore right fielder Ernie Geraci (East Moriches, N.Y.) hit a leadoff triple before an RBI double by sophomore designated hitter Devin Caybasi (St. James, N.Y.) and an RBI single from senior second baseman Domenic Palumbo (Old Bethpage, N.Y.) increased the FSC advantage to 4-1. After a sacrifice bunt by senior center fielder Brandon Ernest (Owings, MD), a single by junior third baseman Shawn Blasberg (Sound Beach, N.Y.) scored Palumbo to put the Rams up 5-1. An error led to two more Farmingdale State runs in the third as they opened up a six-run lead, 7-1.

The Fighting Tigers (0-6) cut the deficit to 7-4 and would score four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a one-run advantage, 8-7.

In the top of the seventh, a pair of walks with the bases loaded by FSC senior first baseman Christopher Reilly (Levittown, N.Y.) and sophomore shortstop Tyler Schrimpf (Miller Place, N.Y.) put the Rams back in front, 9-8.

Cobleskill would tie the score in the eighth on a sacrifice fly to force the game into extra innings.

Farmingdale State led off the top of the tenth inning with a walk by Geraci. FSC would next pinch-hit sophomore Vincent Rice (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) who would single to left field before Palumbo hit an RBI single to center, scoring Geraci, to give the Rams a 10-9 lead. Farmingdale State would add a run later in the inning on an RBI groundout by Blasberg to take an 11-9 advantage into the bottom of the inning.

Junior Logan Hicks (Ekron, KY) would enter to earn his third save of the season as the Rams held on for the win, 11-9.

FSC was led by Palumbo, who went 4-for-6 with two RBI's and two runs scored, and Geraci, who tallied two hits, two runs, a walk and an RBI. Junior Ryan Mallon (Deer Park, N.Y.) pitched an inning and a third in relief as he earned his third win of the year.

Farmingdale State next travels to play conference opponent Mount Saint Vincent in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 24th at noon.
