Danbury, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its 2017 Division III Metro Baseball Awards and All-ECAC selections.
Senior pitcher Matt Seelinger (Westbury, N.Y.) earned All-ECAC First Team honors, while freshman outfielder Vincent Rice (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) was named All-ECAC Honorable Mention.
Seelinger led the FSC pitching staff with a 4-1 record in 11 appearances and 51.2 innings pitched this season. He ranked in the top-20 nationally in four categories: hits allowed per nine innings (4th), WHIP (6th), ERA (9th) and strikeouts per nine innings (16th). Seelinger leaves Farmingdale State with a 13-4 career record, a 3.03 ERA and 199 strikeouts.
Rice, in his rookie campaign, started 34 games and led the team in batting average (.413), hits (45), doubles (8), on-base percentage (.488) and stolen bases (8). He recorded 11 extra-base hits and 15 runs batted in on the year.
