Rams Defeat Lehman in Non-Conference Game

Farmingdale State - 10, Lehman College - 2


Farmingdale, N.Y. - In a non-conference baseball game this afternoon, Farmingdale State earned a 10-2 victory over Lehman College. With the win, the Rams now stand at 14-12 on the season.

Farmingdale State jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a Ryan Gaffney (Riverhead, N.Y.) RBI double down the right field line which scored Michael Lynch (Massapequa Park, N.Y.). Later in the inning, a double steal with Joseph Roche (Westbury, N.Y.) and Gaffney put FSC on top, 2-0.

The Rams increased the advantage to 3-0 in the next inning after a Matteo Gaudio (Glen Cove, N.Y.) RBI single to left field. In FSC's next at-bat, an infield RBI single from Lynch gave the Rams a 4-0 lead.

After Lehman (8-20) plated one run in the top of the third, Farmingdale State responded with two in the bottom of the inning to go ahead, 6-1.

Leading 6-2 in the bottom of the sixth, FSC scored three unearned runs to extend the advantage to 9-2. A bases loaded walk to Gaffney in the seventh scored the games final run as the Rams earned the 10-2 non-conference win.

Lynch finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of runs scored and an RBI, while Gaudio was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a run batted in.

Senior pitcher Kevin Cashman (Hicksville, N.Y.) tossed two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win and improve to 1-0 on the year.

Farmingdale State next will travel to St. Joe's-Brooklyn for a Skyline doubleheader on Saturday, April 23rd at noon.
