#3 Ramapo Holds Off Rams

#3 Ramapo College - 4, Farmingdale State - 2

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team fell to #3 ranked Ramapo College 4-2 in today's non-conference matchup. The Rams dropped to 4-10 overall, while the Roadrunners improved to 14-1-1.

Ramapo used a four-hit first inning to build a 3-0 advantage before the Rams got on the board with a run in the second. Senior first baseman Dalton McCarthy (Manorville, N.Y.) led off with a single up the middle and moved to second on a sac bunt by freshman shortstop Brandon Snow (Owings, Md.). A single by freshman catcher Joseph Roche (Westbury, N.Y.) brought McCarthy to third and he scored on an error to make it 3-1.

Snow opened the fourth with a walk before a Roche double down the left field line put runners on second and third. An RBI grounder by freshman designated hitter Ryan Gaffney (Riverhead, N.Y.) scored Snow for Farmingdale State's second run of the game, 3-2.

In the top of the seventh, senior catcher Ryan Rinsky (North Caldwell, N.J) led off with a walk and scored on an RBI triple from Rob DeAngelis (Staten Island, N.Y.) in Ramapo's at-bat to increase the lead to 4-2.

Freshman Matthew Constantine (West Babylon, N.Y.) tossed six innings, allowing just two walks and five hits with six strikeouts. Sophomore Christopher Reilly (Levittown, N.Y.) threw three innings, allowing one hit and one earned run.

For Ramapo, freshman Kyle Haag (Bergenfield, N.J.) pitched a seven-hit complete game with 10 strikeouts and four walks.

Farmingdale State will next host Yeshiva on Friday, April 1st with a doubleheader at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
