Auburndale, Fla. - The Farmingdale State baseball team played five games at the RussMatt Invitational in Auburndale, Florida and posted a 2-3 record.

Farmingdale State vs. Keene State - BOXSCORE

In the first game of the trip versus Keene State, the Owls led 8-0 entering the bottom of the ninth. The Rams used an RBI double from Christopher Reilly (Levittown, N.Y.) and a Ryan Osborne (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.) RBI single to score two runs in the 8-2 loss. Freshman center fielder Nick Attardi (Smithtown, N.Y.) was 2-for-2 with a walk in three at-bats for the Rams.

Farmingdale State vs. Stockton - BOXSCORE

Trailing 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Farmingdale State freshman shortstop Brandon Snow (Owings, MD) walked with two outs and later stole second. Osborne followed with a RBI double to tie the game at 1-1.

In the bottom of the fifth, Stockton scored eight runs on seven hits to open up a 9-1 lead. The Ospreys went on for the 9-2 victory as the game was rained out in the seventh inning.

Osborne was 2-for-3 with and RBI and Snow went 1-for-2 with a run scored.

Farmingdale State vs. Union (NY) - BOXSCORE

The Rams led 4-1 after two innings and scored 10 in the third to take a 14-1 advantage. Union (NY) scored two runs in the sixth and seventh innings, before FSC used a three run eighth to earn the 17-5 run-rule win.

Osborne was 4-for-5 at the plate with three runs scored and 3 RBI, while sophomore right fielder Brandon Ernest (Owings, MD) had three hits, three runs batted in and scored twice. Attardi finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI as the Rams tied a season-high with 15 hits.

Senior pitcher Kevin Martinez (Glen Cove, N.Y.) tossed a complete game, allowing four earned runs and striking out three.

Farmingdale State vs. Washington & Jefferson - BOXSCORE

Farmingdale State scored first in the bottom of the second after Osborne stole home with two outs. The Rams took a 2-0 lead in the third with an RBI single through the left side from freshman third baseman Michael Ciullo (Valley Stream, N.Y.).

After a two run top of the fourth tied the game for William & Jefferson, FSC answered with RBI's by Snow and Reilly in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead, 4-2.

In the bottom of the fifth, Ciullo hit a two out triple down the right field line and later scored on a Joshua Shapiro (Melville, N.Y.) RBI single to center.

Leading 5-4, the Rams scored the final run of the game in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI single to first base by Snow. Reilly, who pitched the final 2.2 innings and earned the save, retired the Presidents in order in the ninth to seal the victory. Freshman pitcher Kenneth Simco (Calverton, N.Y.) earned the win after allowing three earned runs on nine hits in six innings of work.

Attardi, Shapiro, Osborne, McCarthy and Ciullo each had two hits for the Rams.

Farmingdale State vs. #19 Oswego State - BOXSCORE

FSC was down 2-0 in the top of the third, until a Shapiro RBI double down the left field line cut the Oswego lead in half. The Lakers added three runs in the fifth and one in the seventh en route to the 6-1 victory.

Shapiro was 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI, while Attardi was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

The Rams next will host Merchant Marine in a non-conference game on Tuesday, March 29th at 7:00 p.m.
