Rams Split with Dolphins on Senior Day

Game 1: Mount Saint Vincent - 19, Farmingdale State - 8 (7 innings)

Game 2: Farmingdale State - 2, Mount Saint Vincent - 0

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team split a conference doubleheader today with the College of Mount Saint Vincent in a game that also featured Senior Day. The Rams fell 19-3 in seven innings in game one, before winning game two 2-0. Farmingdale State's seven seniors included Anthony Alvino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), Mike Scarlato (Holbrook, N.Y.), Michael Marino (Franklin Square, N.Y.), Alex Pangourelias (Briarwood, N.Y.), Tom Rydzewski (Franklin Square, N.Y.), Ryan Levine (West Babylon, N.Y.) and Anthony McQuade (Lindenhurst, N.Y.).

In game one, Farmingdale State held a 3-1 advantage after the first inning, before surrendering eight runs in the top of the second to fall behind 9-3. A 10-run fifth inning would be too much for the Rams to recover from, falling 19-8 due to the seven-inning run-rule.

Levine went 3-for-4 in the loss, while Marino and Scarlato both finished 2-for-4 with a run scored. Rydzewski had one hits and two runs scored with an RBI, while Alvino had a hit, RBI and one run scored.

Farmingdale State allowed just four hits in game two to take the 2-0 seven inning victory. In the first inning, Alvino walked and stole second, before Marino knocked a double down the left field line to score Alvino for the 1-0 advantage. The score held until the fourth inning when McQuade's sacrifice fly to right scored sophomore Richard Sullivan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) from third for the 2-0 Rams lead.

Farmingdale State allowed just three hits over the final three innings to secure the win. Junior left hander Kevin Cashman (Hicksville, N.Y.) earned the win in a six-inning outing with four strikeouts, while Pangourelias closed out the game to earn his third save of the season.

The Rams will host Purchase College on Sunday, April 19th in a Skyline doubleheader at Noon.
