Old Westbury, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball split a Skyline Conference doubleheader at Old Westbury on Sunday afternoon. The Rams now stand at 9-12 overall and 4-4 in conference play, while the Panthers are 12-8, 4-4.

Farmingdale State jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a 2 RBI double to center by junior first baseman Dalton McCarthy (Manorville, N.Y.). After Old Westbury cut the deficit to 2-1, an RBI single in the top of the fourth by sophomore left fielder Nick Osburn (East Islip, N.Y.) put the Rams back ahead by two.

Leading 4-2 in the top of the seventh, senior right fielder Michael Marino (Franklin Square, N.Y.) doubled down the left field line scoring Tom Rydzewski (Franklin Square, N.Y.) and increasing the FSC lead to 5-2. In Farmingdale State's next at-bat, McCarthy hit an RBI single through the left side to open up a four run lead. Freshman second baseman Domenic Palumbo (Plainview, N.Y.) recorded an RBI single to left as the Rams plated their third run of the inning and took a 7-2 advantage.

Old Westbury would respond with three runs in the bottom of the seventh to close within two, 7-5.

Farmingdale State freshman pitcher David Otero Jr. (Shelton, Conn.) allowed only one hit over the final two innings to earn the save and preserve the 7-5 Rams victory.

McCarthy was 2-for-3 with a run scored and 3 RBI, while Marino was 3-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored and a run batted in. Senior center fielder Anthony Alvino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) had two hits and scored a pair of runs for Farmingdale State.

In game two, the Panthers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning; however, the Rams responded with two runs in the top of the second to tie the game at 2-2.

Old Westbury led 7-3 and used a six-run fifth inning to extend their advantage to 13-3. Farmingdale State scored a run in each of the last two innings but fell, 13-5.

Senior pitcher Caleb Olesen (Selden, N.Y.) earned the win for the Panthers after tossing a complete game allowing one earned run on seven hits.
