FSC Notches Three Skyline Scholar-Athletes

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference has announced the 2013-14 Winter/Spring Scholar-Athletes of the Year. Farmingdale State junior's Camille Romero (Queens, N.Y.), Michelle Mongiello (Elmont, N.Y.) and Anthony Alvino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) were each recipients of this award for their respective sports.

A Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award is presented to the First Team All-Conference performer who carries the highest grade point average (minimum 3.30) for the spring semester in the sports of baseball, softball, lacrosse, men's volleyball and men's tennis. The highest cumulative grade point average (minimum 3.30) for both the fall and spring semesters of 2013-14 is used for the First-Team All-Conference recipients in basketball and swimming.

Romero averaged a team-high 19.8 points per game and earned Skyline Player of the Year and Second-Team All-Region distinction as FSC captured the league's regular season title.

Mongiello batted .358 and compiled 16 doubles and 33 RBI as Farmingdale State secured its fourth consecutive Skyline Softball crown.

Alvino hit .333 with 29 RBI and five triples this season as FSC earned a pair of victories in the 2014 NCAA Baseball Championship.
