Bergmann Named ABCA/Rawlings Third Team All-American

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-American teams were announced on Friday, May 23. The teams are selected by a committee of eight coaches throughout the country, who are responsible for naming All-Region teams, All-Americans, Coaches of the Year and Gold Glove recipients.

Farmingdale State senior outfielder Edward Bergmann (East Meadow, N.Y.) was named Third Team All-American. Bergmann led the Rams in nearly every offensive category this season, while leading the Rams to their 7th straight Skyline Conference Championship. He batted a team-high .421, while also leading in hits (53), runs scored (42), doubles (8), on-base percentage (.503), stolen bases (30) and walks (20). Bergmann finished atop the Skyline in batting average, on-base percentage and runs scored and was named the Conference Tournament's Most Valuable Player. In Division III, he finished the season ranked 8th in stolen bases and stolen bases per game, 45th in batting average and 46th in both runs per game and on-base percentage.

Bergmann was also named to the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Team. He finished the year with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, 99 putouts and a team-leading six outfield assists.
