Rams Have Four Players Named D3baseball.com All-Region

- Bergmann, Alvino, Marino and Weingarten named to All-Region Team -


The 2014 D3baseball.com All-Region teams were announced on Monday, May 19th and Farmingdale State had four players named to the All-New York Team. Senior outfielder Edward Bergmann (East Meadow, N.Y.) earned First Team honors, junior shortstop Anthony Alvino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was named to the Second Team, while junior outfielder Michael Marino (Franklin Square, N.Y.) and sophomore pitcher Alex Weingarten (East Rockaway, N.Y.) earned Third Team honors.

Bergmann batted a team-leading .421 this season and also led the Rams in hits (53), runs scored (42), doubles (8), on-base percentage (.503), stolen bases (30) and held a perfect fielding percentage. Nationally, Bergmann ranks 4th for stolen bases per game (0.88), 10th in stolen bases, 23rd in both on-base percentage and batting average and 29th in runs scored per game (1.21).

Alvino held a .333 batting average this season and was 2nd on Farmingdale State in triples (5) and runs batted in (29). He tallied 35 hits, 21 runs scored and held a .486 slugging percentage. Alvino was 15th in Division III for triples per game (0.19), 16th in sacrifice bunts a game (0.3), 28th for triples and was the 49th toughest batter to strike out (four strikeouts in 104 at-bats).

Marino appeared in all 40 games and batted .343 on the year. He led the team in at-bats (140), triples (7), home runs (2) and slugging percentage (.536), while posting a .988 fielding percentage. Marino ranks 10th in the Nation for triples and 12th in triples per game (0.19).

Weingarten posted a team-best 5-1 record with two complete games and two saves. He led all starting pitchers with a 1.73 ERA after allowing only 11 earned runs in 57.1 innings of work. Weingarten is 38th in the Nation for earned run average.
