Farmingdale State - 8, Staten Island - 2


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team earned an 8-2 victory over The College of Staten Island in a non-conference home game this afternoon. The Rams improved to 17-9 on the year, while the Dolphins dropped to 13-11.

In the bottom of the second, Farmingdale State broke the scoreless tie on a two out RBI single up the middle by freshman left fielder Richard Sullivan (Farmingdale, N.Y.). Senior third baseman Sal Sanquini (Levittown, N.Y.) later hit an RBI single through the left side to increase the advantage to 2-0.

Senior center fielder Edward Bergmann (East Meadow, N.Y.) led off the third with an infield single and scored on the Rams' next at-bat as shortstop Anthony Alvino (Lindenhurst, N.Y) doubled to left center.

Farmingdale State added a run in the fourth and two in both the fifth and sixth innings to extend their lead to 8-0.

Staten Island would add runs late in the game as the Rams earned the non-conference win.

Sanquini was 2-for-4 at the plate with a game-high 3 RBI, while Alvino was 2-for-2 with a run batted in. Bergmann tallied two hits and scored a run and Sullivan was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI.

Senior pitcher Timmy Trimarchi (Hauppauge, N.Y.) earned the win and improved to 2-0 on the season after throwing 3.1 hitless innings of relief.

Farmingdale State next will travel to Purchase for a Skyline doubleheader on Friday, April 18th at 3:00 p.m.
