2013 New York All-Region Teams


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-Region teams were announced on Monday, May 20. The teams are selected by a committee of eight coaches throughout the country, who are responsible for naming All-Region teams, All-Americans, Coaches of the Year and Gold Glove recipients.

Senior outfielder David Zilnicki (Riverhead, N.Y.) and junior pitcher Michael Dolce (St. James, N.Y.) were named to the First Team, while senior first baseman Ron Remi (Massapequa, N.Y.) was named Second Team.

After winning their sixth straight Skyline title, the Rams went 1-2 in the New York Regional in Auburn, N.Y. and finished with a 29-15 overall record. Zilnicki posted career numbers in 2013 as he led the team with a .434 batting average, 44 runs, 53 hits, 66 total bases, 29 walks and 37 stolen bases. He set single-season records for batting average, on-base percentage, runs scored and stolen bases. He leaves Farmingdale State with four school records, including runs scored (125), triples (13), walks (75) and stolen bases (72).

Dolce, a starting pitcher with a 6-1 record this season, finished with an 0.75 earned run average, the lowest single-season ERA in school history. In nine starts, he posted wins against Keene State, Old Westbury, Mount Saint Mary, St. Joseph's, Purchase and most-importantly Neumann in the NCAA Regionals. Over 14 appearances, Dolce allowed just seven extra-base hits (6 doubles, 1 triple, 0 homeruns) and five earned runs.

Remi finished the year second on the team with a .319 batting average and .976 fielding percentage, while leading the team with a school record 11 sacrifice hits. Remi made just six errors in 272 chances with 244 putouts, 22 assists and 17 double plays turned. He leaves Farmingdale State with the school record for sacrifice hits (22) and the second-most putouts (593), chances (739) and double plays turned (69).
