Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team swept the College of Mount Saint Vincent today with a 10-3 and 7-1 win in a Skyline doubleheader today in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams evened their record at 8-8 overall, 2-0 in conference play with the wins, while the Dolphins dropped to 0-11, 0-2.

In game one, Mount Saint Vincent scored three runs in the top of the first, before Farmingdale State tied it 3-3 on two hits in the bottom of the inning. Senior right fielder Terrence Bohonan (Patchogue, N.Y.) knocked in two runs with a single to center, while senior first baseman Ron Remi (Massapequa, N.Y.) sent home the third run of the inning with an RBI single to center.

The Rams scored six runs over three innings to hold a 9-3 advantage, while holding the Dolphins to just two hits the rest of the way. Junior pitcher Chris Dragone (Hicksville, N.Y.) got the win for Farmingdale State, improving to 1-1 as he allowed just two hits over five innings with two strikeouts.

Bohonan was 3-for-4 at the plate with four RBI and two runs scored with two stolen bases. Remi batted 2-for-4 with two runs batted in, while senior left fielder David Zilnicki (Riverhead, N.Y.) and junior centerfielder Edward Bergmann (East Meadow, N.Y.) were each 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

In game two, Bohonan led off the bottom of the second with a triple to center and later scored on a Remi sac bunt to take a 1-0 lead. Farmingdale State increased their lead to 2-0 on a two-out triple to right field by Remi which scored freshman first baseman Dalton McCarthy (Manorville, N.Y.).

In the top of the fourth, the Dolphins cut the deficit to 2-1 on an RBI single to left field by junior right fielder Chris Sideli (Brooklyn, N.Y.). In the bottom of the fifth, the Rams used back-to-back walks with the bases loaded to increase their advantage to 4-1. Farmingdale State added three runs in the fifth inning to cap off the Skyline sweep.

McCarthy had two hits and three runs scored, while sophomore designated hitter Ryan Levine (West Babylon, N.Y.) was 1-for-3 with two RBI. Remi was 1-for-2 at the plate with two runs scored, two RBI and two stolen bases. Junior pitcher Matthew DeRamo (Smithtown, N.Y.) improved to 1-1 on the season, after allowing one run in four innings of work. Freshman Jorge Ruiz (Shirley, N.Y.) recorded the save after throwing a scoreless inning and a third to secure the win.

The Rams next will travel to Old Westbury for a conference doubleheader on Sunday, March 24th at Noon.
