Rams Getting Ready for Baseball Regionals

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The NCAA released the locations of the eight regional sites for the upcoming NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament and Farmingdale State was selected as the 2012 Division III New York Regional site. After winning their fifth straight Skyline Conference Championship last weekend, the Rams (28-9) will be playing on their home turf.

The New York Regional will be held on campus at Farmingdale State's Baseball Complex. This will mark the second time Farmingdale State has hosted a regional for baseball. In 2009, Farmingdale State hosted a six-team regional and the Rams won the NY Regional Championship and made their first-ever trip to the Division III College World Series.

Farmingdale State's baseball complex was officially opened on May 2, 2005. The 1,000-seat stadium features batting cages, lights, dugouts and a press box. Over the past seven years, the facility has played host to the America East Championships, the Nassau Suffolk Catholic High School Playoffs, the Nassau County Baseball Playoffs, and the Long Island High School Baseball Championships.

The other regional sites for the 2012 Division III baseball playoffs are as follows:

Mid-Atlantic Regional: First Energy Park (Lakewood, N.J./hosted by Kean University)
Mideast Regional: Don Schaly Stadium (Marietta, Ohio/hosted by Marietta College)
Midwest Regional: Prucha Field (Whitewater, Wis./hosted by University of Wisconsin-Whitewater)
New England Regional: Mansfield Complex (Mansfield, Conn./hosted by Eastern Connecticut State University)
Central Regional: USA Stadium (Memphis, Tenn./hosted by Rhodes College)
South Regional: Captains Park (Newport News, Va./hosted by Christopher Newport University)
West Regional: Roy Helser Field (McMinnville, Ore./hosted by Linfield College)

The eight regionals will be held May 16-20 with each regional champion advancing to the Division III World Series May 25-29 at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wis.

Teams competing in this year's NCAA Division III Baseball Regionals will be announced on Sunday, May 13.
