- Phelan named Pitcher of the Year, Rydzewski Co-Rookie of the Year -
New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the 2012 All-Conference baseball selections on Tuesday, May 1st. Senior Chris Phelan (Patchogue, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Pitcher of the Year and freshman Thomas Rydzewski (Franklin Square, N.Y.) earned Co-Rookie of the Year honors. Senior CJ Bula (Mohegan Lake, N.Y.), senior Frank Scarlato (Holbrook, N.Y.) and freshman Anthony Alvino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) were named First Team All-Conference, while junior Terrence Bohonan (Patchogue, N.Y.) was named to the Second Team.
Phelan led the Rams with a 7-1 record, a 1.96 ERA and four complete games this season. He pitched 69 innings striking out 67 batters, while allowing only 15 earned runs and 10 walks. Rydzewski had a team-high .409 average at the plate with 30 runs scored and 21 RBI. He held a .457 on base percentage and was 11-for-12 on stolen base attempts.
Bula posted a 7-2 record with a 3.44 ERA in 55 innings pitched. He allowed 21 earned runs and struck out 52 batters. Scarlato was second on the team with a .370 average including a team-leading eight doubles. Scarlato held a .500 slugging percentage and a .980 fielding percentage. Alving batted .339 with 19 RBI, a team-high 32 runs scored and was second with 12 stolen bases.
Bohonan, who appeared in 34 games, hit .326 with 24 runs scored and 21 RBI this season. Freshman Ryan Levine (West Babylon, N.Y.) hit the game-winning 3-run double in the bottom of the ninth to lead Farmingdale State to a 7-6 win over Old Westbury in the Skyline Conference Finals. Levine was named the Tournament's Most Valuable Player.
