Skyline Spring Reporting Week #4 Released

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the 4th spring report for the 2011-12 season this afternoon, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for baseball, softball, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse and men's tennis.

Baseball Update - Full Report

The Farmingdale State baseball team fished the week with a 7-0 record, including 6-0 in Skyline Conference games. The Rams defeated Stevens, 4-3, on a walk-off single to center in the 10th inning by freshman Matthew Zsevc (Westbury, N.Y.) on Friday.

Sophomore Chris Dragone (Hicksville, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Pitcher of the Week after tossing a perfect game against Yeshiva University. Dragone struck out seven batters and improved to 2-1 on the season. Freshman second baseman Thomas Rydzewski (Franklin Square, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week. Rydzewski batted .455 with nine runs scored, 5 RBI and stole four bases. He had at least one hit in every game he played this week. Junior right fielder Terrence Bohonan (Patchogue, N.Y.) was named to the Skyline Conference Player of the Week Honor Roll. Bohonan hit .526 with 6 RBI and three runs scored. He was 4-for-4 with a run scored and 2 RBI in game two versus Maritime.

Softball Update - Full Report

The Rams posted a 5-1 record this week with Skyline Conference sweeps over Purchase and Mount Saint Mary College.

Sophomore shortstop Hillary Genova (Brentwood, N.Y.) was named Co-Skyline Conference Player of the Week. Genova batted .500 (9-for-18) and recorded a hit in all six games this week. She scored 11 runs and tallied nine runs batted in. Freshman pitcher Chelsea La Marca (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) was named to the Skyline Conference Player of the Week Honor Roll. La Marca threw a pair of complete games with a 1.40 ERA on the week. She won both decisions and struck out eight batters, while only walking one.

Men's Lacrosse Update - Full Report

The men's lacrosse team opened up their Skyline Conference schedule as they traveled to Montclair State on Saturday. The Rams fell 16-6 and next will travel to Kean for a conference game on Wednesday, March 28th at 7:00 p.m.

Women's Lacrosse Update - Full Report

Farmingdale State split in two games this week as the fell, 14-13, in overtime to Oneonta State and then defeated Montclair State 13-7 in their first Skyline game of the season. Against Montclair State, freshman midfielder Christy Thoden (Bayport, N.Y.) led the Rams with a game-high five goals and one assist for six points. Senior goalkeeper Courtney Cook (Deer Park, N.Y.) made 12 saves in the victory.

Freshman midfielder Nicole Marzocca (West Babylon, N.Y.) was named to the Skyline Conference Player of the Week Honor Roll. Marzocca tallied eight goals and three assists for a team-leading 11 points this week.

Men's Tennis Update - Full Report

The Rams played one match this week and defeated CCNY 9-0. Sophomore Christian Bormann (Huntington, N.Y.) and freshman Justin Vijungco (Forest Hills, N.Y.) were each named to the Skyline Conference Player of the Week Honor Roll. Bormann posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory at #2 singles, while Vijungco earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles. The two paired together for an 8-0 victory at first doubles.
