Rams Sweep NYU-Poly on Senior Day

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team swept NYU-Poly on senior day in a Skyline Conference doubleheader this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. Kevin Curtis (Riverhead, N.Y.), J.R. Lott (East Islip, N.Y.), Frank Yera (Manhattan, N.Y.), Brandon Cruz (Bronx, N.Y.), Ryan Rubenstein (Deer Park, N.Y.) and Thomas Butler (Islip, N.Y.) each played in their final regular season home game today. 

In game one, the Rams scored 10 runs in the first two innings. After four innings, Farmingdale State held an 18-0 lead and eventually shutout the Blue Jays 24-0. Curtis was 4-for-5 at the plate with 3 RBI and two runs scored, while Cruz was 2-for-3, scoring two runs and recording 3 RBI's. Butler had two hits and a game-high four runs scored and Rubenstein batted 2-for-4 with an inside the park homerun. Junior second baseman Danny Devito (Plainview, N.Y.) had three hits, three runs and 3 RBI. Lott started the game and allowed no runs over two innings of work.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Farmingdale State scored nine first inning runs and led 13-1 after three innings. The game was called after the top of the fifth inning due to rain.

Yera recorded a game-high three hits, had three runs scored and 3 RBI. Curtis was 2-for-2 and finished the doubleheader with six hits in seven at bats.
