Rams Roll to Sweep over Yeshiva

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team swept Yeshiva University, 9-0 and 15-0, today in a Skyline Conference doubleheader played in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams improved to 14-9, 8-2 in the conference with the win, while the Maccabees fell to 3-19, 0-12 with the loss.

In game one (9-inning game), sophomore lefthander Vinny Messana (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) got the win going five innings, while allowing just two hits and striking out three. Farmingdale State held a 6-0 lead when he was relieved, scoring one run in the first inning, three in the second and two in the third.

For the game, junior third baseman Ryan McAllister (Miller Place, N.Y.) went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three runs batted in. Junior second baseman Danny DeVito (Plainview, N.Y.) and senior first baseman Kevin Curtis (Riverhead, N.Y.) both finished with two hits.

In the second game (7-innings), freshman right hander Mike Dolce (St. James, N.Y.) went five innings for the win allowing no hits and striking out four. He was relieved by freshman right hander Chris Dragone (Hicksville, N.Y.) in the sixth, and Farmingdale State had a no-hitter going, until Yeshiva sophomore pinch hitter Zev Rosenblum (spoiled the outing with a two-out bloop single to right in the seventh inning. Dragone struck out the next batter for the final out, and finished with four strikeouts in his two innings pitched.

Offensively, sophomore right fielder Terrence Bohonan (Patchogue, N.Y.) went 3-for-4 with three RBI's and two runs scored, including an inside the park homerun. Senior designated hitter Mike Appell (Westbury, N.Y.) and Curtis both finished 3-for-3 with three runs scored and one RBI, while junior catcher Frank Scarlato (Holbrook, N.Y.) finished 2-for-4 with two triples, three runs scored an one RBI.

The Rams will now travel to face St. Joseph's (L.I.) in a Skyline Conference doubleheader on Sunday, April 10th at Noon.
