Farmingdale, N.Y. - Farmingdale State fell to Western New England, 11-1, in a non-conference baseball game this afternoon. The Rams dropped to 4-9 overall, while the Golden Bears improved to 1-0 with the win.

Western New England scored a run in the top of the first inning on an RBI triple to right center by Tony Trubia (Tolland, Conn./Tolland). The Golden Bears added a second run in the third inning as Joe Griglun (Southington, Conn./Southington) doubled down the left field line scoring Justin Walz (Groton, Conn./Fitch). Western New England plated seven runners in the top of the sixth, taking a 9-0 advantage. Farmingdale State designated hitter Matt Weingartner (Westbury, N.Y./W.T. Clarke) scored the Rams only run of the game on a double steal in the bottom half of the sixth. The Golden Bears added two runs in the ninth for the 11-1 non-conference victory.

Griglun was 3-for-5 with three RBI's and two runs scored and outfielder Steve Kearney (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) was 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored for Western New England.

Starting pitcher Ian Solomon (Northport, N.Y./Northport) went 3.2 innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out four for the Rams. Even Michaud (Windsor Locks, Conn./Windsor Locks) earned the win for the Golden Bears after pitching six innings allowing zero earned runs and five hits.

Farmingdale State hosts Cortland State in a non-conference game tomorrow at noon.
