Coach Osik Notches 100th Career Win in Florida


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team defeated Gwynedd-Mercy College today, 4-3, in the first game of a double-header down in Orlando, Florida. The win marks Coach Osik's 100th career win in just his fifth season, as the Rams improved to 4-5 overall.

After starting the season off with a D3Baseball.com Preseason Poll Ranking of #23 in the nation, Farmingdale State went 0-4 with losses to tough teams - Frostburg State, Methodist, Huntingdon and Roanoke - at the Methodist/Diamond Baseball Invitational on February 19th-20th.

The Rams have responded so far with 4-of-5 wins down in Florida at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational, giving Coach his 100th career win. Over the past four seasons, he has led Farmingdale State to two straight Skyline Titles (2008-2009), a Regional Championship in 2009 and an appearance in the 2009 Division III College World Series. He was a 2-Time Coach of the Year Award recipient in 2009, being named the ECAC DIII Metro Coach of the Year and ABCA/Rawlings New York Region Coach of the Year.

The team traveled to Orlando for spring training on Thursday, February 25th and they have three games remaining to play.
